Zar Nightclub was a high-energy, luxurious venue that redefined Cape Town’s nightlife. Owned by controversial businessmen Gayton McKenzie and Kenny Kunene, the club became a symbol of exclusivity and opulence. While it has since closed, its nightclub design and fitout remain a testament to our ability to create dynamic and immersive entertainment spaces.

High-Profile Ownership & Vision

Gayton McKenzie and Kenny Kunene, known for their extravagant lifestyles, envisioned Zar as a premier nightlife destination. They wanted a space that reflected luxury, indulgence, and cutting-edge design. With just four weeks to complete the project, our team took on the challenge, executing an ambitious nightclub fitout that delivered on all fronts.

Fast-Paced Nightclub Fitout

From demolition to the final reveal, every detail was carefully planned and executed within the tight deadline. The fitout process included:

• Complete Structural Transformation – The space was stripped down and rebuilt to accommodate high-end clubbing.
• Custom Sound & Lighting Systems – A state-of-the-art sound system and immersive LED lighting enhanced the club’s electrifying atmosphere.

Immersive Nightclub Interior Design

Zar’s interior design reflected its status as a premium clubbing venue, incorporating unique and interactive elements:

• Cigar Lounge with Dragon Motif Wallpapers – Adding an air of exclusivity.
• Glass Water Feature – A striking water feature flowed over glass, elegantly dividing the cigar lounge from the main space, adding a tranquil yet dramatic effect.
• LED-Illuminated Bathroom Floors – A futuristic and playful touch.
• Color-Changing Lighting – Setting the perfect ambiance for different moods throughout the night.

A Nightlife Legacy

Zar Nightclub may no longer exist, but its influence on Cape Town’s nightlife scene remains. This nightclub design and fitout proved that high-end venues could be brought to life under intense time constraints without compromising on luxury or functionality.
