A Galaxy of Innovation: JUMO’s Cape Town Office

If the Star Wars universe had a headquarters for innovation and progress, JUMO would be the Republic. Urban Spaces was thrilled to partner with this pioneering fintech company to create a dynamic, open-plan workplace in Cape Town—designed to inspire collaboration, flexibility, and energy.

Designing a Tech Playground

The office is more than a workplace—it’s a tech-savvy playground for innovation. Key design features include:

• Open-plan work zones that encourage team synergy

• Multiple breakout areas for casual meetings or quiet focus

• A library lounge that adds warmth and calm to the industrial backdrop

• Leafy seating zones and living green walls to breathe life into the space

Coffee, Craft & Community

One of the highlights? The JUMO Tap—a flexible social hub where staff can recharge, connect, and create. Featuring TRUTH coffee and local craft beer, this space doubles as a casual meeting point and event area, designed to build a strong company culture.

To support productivity, we added a refill station for caffeine breaks, and a variety of seating arrangements to suit different working styles—from focus pods to collaborative zones.

Balancing Openness and Privacy

Using a smart combination of glazing and acoustic treatments, the space achieves a perfect balance: maintaining visual transparency while ensuring privacy for meetings and deep work.
