Interior Design for a Healthcare Innovation Hub

Urban Spaces completed the Abbott Cape Town Office Interior Design project for Alere Inc. (now Abbott), a global leader in point-of-care diagnostics. The client needed a multifunctional environment that could support testing, training, and staff collaboration. The office also serves as the central hub for Sub-Saharan Africa operations.

Functionality Meets Flow

From the moment you enter, the reception area offers a warm and professional welcome. Strategically placed meeting rooms and a fully equipped training space support the daily functions of a busy diagnostics team.
What’s more, the design includes a range of tailored laboratory environments that follow best practices for cleanliness, workflow, and equipment handling. Each area supports a seamless flow between incoming devices, testing zones, clean rooms, and dispatch.

People-Focused, Light-Filled Spaces

In addition to the technical spaces, we created a spacious breakaway area designed for staff wellness and relaxation. Natural light reaches every workstation, and careful space planning enhances connectivity and productivity throughout the office. The environment fosters both focus and team engagement.
